Following yesterday’s news that Jeremy McWilliams will race the teams’ YZF R6 Yamaha, BE Racing/RK Racing have disclosed today that their GSX-R 1000 Suzuki Superbike will be piloted next week at the North West 200 by Classic TT winner Dominic Herbertson.
Standing in for Michael Browne at Tandragee, Herbertson went onto claim a popular Supersport race victory, just ahead of Duke Road Race Rankings Champion Michael Sweeney.
Impressed by his turn of pace, application, Burrows Engineering Racing/Richardson Kelly Racing Team Owner John Burrows has made the decision to give the podcast host another prime-time opportunity.
Commenting about running Herbertson in the premier Superbike class during the FonaCAB & Nicholl Oils North West 200, former racer Burrows stated:
“Knowing Mike would not be fit for the North West I still needed a stand in rider for the Superbike class.
After Dom’s performance on our 600 last week at Tandragee and seeing how well he worked with the team it was a no brainer to consider him as an option, and I asked him on the finish line at Tandragee would he fancy riding it and thankfully we have got the deal done.
To finally get the North West deal’s sorted has been a huge weight lifted off my back and I am looking forward to working with both Dom and Jeremy next week.”
Herbertson who is also due to race next week Cowton Racing Supersport/Super Twin Kawasaki machinery, Haith/Rich Energy backed Superstock BMW tackle, stated the following about the aforementioned:
“After how well last weekend went with the Burrows lads at Tandragee, it was a pretty easy decision to say yes when John asked me would I like to ride the Superbike at the North West.
It will be the first time I have rode a full-blown Superbike machine so I am really looking forward to the challenge of that. Horsepower means a lot round the triangle so to not be lacking a bit in top speed by riding the Superstock in the Superbike races will be a benefit to me I believe.
The bike that I will be riding finished 4th in the Superbike race at the North West 200 in 2019 so I know it is a machine well capable of a good result.
I am super thankful to John once again for this opportunity and I am looking forward to working with the lads again as it is a great team with a brilliant atmosphere.”
