Kick starting the 2022 pure road racing season with a carnival like atmosphere, keenly contested
competition, the second Grand Prix Moto Du Cameroun edition didn’t disappoint.
A vibrant crowd descended upon the Bonamoussadi quarter of Douala, to view close up Cameroon’s two-wheel racing equivalent to La Baneza, Montjuic, Vila Real.
Overall victory spoils went to local competitor Jackson whilst overseas visitor Morgan Govignon, endured a pretty character-building race.
During the early race stages, Govignon, France’s speediest Manx GP pilot was holding onto second before a low-speed tip-off curtailed his podium finishing challenge.
Despite this Govignon, who’s 675 Daytona Triumph tackle was suffering gearbox issues, still went onto finish the race.
Spectators extremely close to racers similar to rally’s, cars on the race track! It’s fair to say this year’s Grand Prix Moto Du Cameroun, wasn’t short of major challenges for those participating.
From the outside looking in, there will be some stating that’s not safe, that’s not right, this should be changed.
What needs to be remembered is the term great oaks from little acorns grow. This meet is in it’s ascendency, early stages, it’s always going to be a gradual process getting everything spot on.
The fact that the event took place is a triumph in itself. Huge congratulations to the organisers who’s ambition, drive to have a pure road race in Cameroon, has come to fruition.
