The latest chapter in Davey Todd’s NZ racing expedition, the second round of the Suzuki international series in conjunction with the New Zealand Superbike series at the Manfeild Circuit Chris Amon, yielded a mix of challenging, tough, positive moments.
There were hard lines for Todd in the opening Supermoto race, as last year’s National Superstock 1000 Champion crashed out.
Emerging unscathed, the 2022 Armoy ‘Race of Legends’ winner, third quickest in Saturday’s qualifying session, enjoyed an upturn in fortunes for the second Supermoto encounter.
The eight-lap race, held in changeable conditions around the Manfeild Circuit Chris Amon, would see Todd bag a gritty third place finish.
The remaining Supermoto race saw TAS Racing’s lead rider for next year’s Northwest 200 and TT Races, finish ultra close to P1 occupier, machinery provider Richie Dibben.
All that separated Todd and Dibben was 0.003 of a second!
In terms of the Whites Powersport Shoei Premium Helmets backed Superbike races won by Mitch Rees and ex Moto GP racer Anthony West, M1 Motorsport BMW pilot Todd best finish was P6 from the opening big bike race stint.
Todd’s attentions now move onto Whanganui and the ‘Southern Hemisphere’s Isle of Man’, the Cemetery Circuit Races.
Per tradition, it’s a boxing day bonanza of all things real road racing and Road Racing News will be right on cue, reporting the feats of the street racing aces.
