TT Privateers champion Dan Hegarty began his 2017 roads season in great style, at the Spring Cup National Road Races.
Established amongst the foremost front runners at Scarborough, Dan was the most consistent challenger throughout the two day meeting, to the dominant Dean Harrison.
Showing world class form on Top Gun Racing’s newly acquired ex Conor Cummins Honda Racing Superbike, he sealed runner up spots in both of the Solo Open A and Senior races.
Whilst the feature race of the event, the Bob Smith Spring Cup, saw Dan put up a gallant defence of his Spring Cup crown, fighting his way to second, along the way lapping at 1 minute 45.76 seconds, making him now the eighth fastest rider in history around Oliver’s Mount.
He also now holds the honour of having lapped at England’s only roads circuit, faster than none other than 23 times TT winner, John McGuinness.
Alongside this great accomplishment, the Junior A races saw him, propel Top Gun Racing’s CBR 600RR Honda to series of third place finishes.
Speaking about his extremely productive first roads outing in Top Gun Racing colours, Dan said via his Facebook page:
“Couldn’t have had a much better debut on my Top Gun Racing Honda’s. On the podium in every race at the best Oliver’s Mount meeting for a long time!
Smashed my PB’s in both classes and lapped within 1.5 of the lap record. Some more refinements on the bikes and we hope to close that gap again next time.
Thanks to everyone that supported me and Auto 66 for putting on a great meeting. If you weren’t there then you missed out!
