Derek Shiels on the CD racing ZX10 Kawasaki took victory in the opening superbike race at the Cork road races. It was Derek Mcgee who got the best start leading at the end of lap 1 but soon Derek Shiels hit the front and from there took a comfortable race win. Derek Mcgee finished in a good second place in front of Michael Sweeney.
William Dunlop finished in 4th place, William competing on the Milwaukee Yamaha R6 supersport bike was the leading 600 rider, Michael Pearson completed the top 5, Michael who took race victories at the Horice road races rode well throughout on the Team Hotties thermal packs racing team SR1000 BMW.
