Last held in 2017, the Cock O’The North meeting at Oliver’s Mount Scarborough, traditionally has good weather (fingers crossed!), a chilled-out atmosphere and attracts a wide-ranging high-quality entry list.
This is certainly applicable to this year’s event entry, with strong fields per class.
RST Supersport wise, 47 competitors have placed entries in. Alongside Scarborough racing returnee, triple TT winner Dean Harrison (Boyce Precision Engineering/Russell Racing), the middleweight class starting list features a host of rising roads scene stars, including:
2022 Steve Henshaw Gold Cup Champion Adam McLean (JMcC Roofing Racing), Republic of Ireland’s fastest TT exponent of all time Michael Browne (BE/RK Racing), fellow TT 2023 revelation Jim Hind (Bass Tyre Services).
New 130 mph club TT member Rob Hodson (SMT Racing), Bob Smith Spring Cup winner Joey Thompson, 2016 Senior Manx Grand Prix winner Tom Weeden (Club 77), Daniel Forbes.
Gary McCoy (Mad Bros Racing), Pre-TT Classic Superbike race winner Joe Yeardsley, 2019 Steve Henshaw Gold Cup runner-up, 221 plate holder Mike Norbury (Thornton Racing), top newcomer at the Spring Cup, Andy Smart (BDR Ansatech Racing).
Mount stalwarts hoping to also unlock prodigious race finishes include Sam Johnson (VRS Racing), Mark Goodings (LMT Motorsport), Barry Furber (DC Auto Repairs Newtown Ltd).
Toby Shann, TT 2023 participant Kevin Barsby (Sally Nunn Racing) and Horwich’s Julian Tillotson (JMS Solutions/Oliver’s Mount Racing).
Keep an eye as well on newcomer ‘Spartacus’ Marcus Simpson (JPS Racing Powered by Atherstone ARC), runner-up in last year’s Irish Road Race Senior Support Championship.
Six Supersport races are due to take place next month at Scarborough, with three races each for qualifiers for the A & B races.
Roll on what are set to be captivating Supersport encounters!
