P1060634

The opening supersport race at this years Cock of the north road races saw the race shortened to four laps. This meant it was vitally important to make a good start and Dean Harrison on the Ian Bell motorcycles R6 Yamaha did. Dean lead 0.6 of a second at the halfway point on lap 1, Jamie Hamilton was second just in front of Dan Frear and James Cowton who held fourth place on the CC engineering backed CBR 600 Honda.

As lap 1 ended Dean Harrison lead by 1.1 seconds over Jamie Hamilton in second place, Dan Frear and James Cowton where close together in third and fourth positions whilst Ivan Lintin held fifth place on the Taylor Lindsey racing ZX6 Kawasaki. Lap 2 began with Dean Harrison out front beginning to dominate the supersport 600 race in a similar fashion to how he dominated the opening superbike race at this years Cock of the north road races.

Jamie Hamilton, Dan Frear and James Cowton where all close together battling over second place, Ivan Lintin maintained fifth position in front of James Coward who held sixth place on the Barnes racing R6 Yamaha. Daley Mathison was showing good form holding a top 10 position on the PRF racing GSX-R 600 Suzuki and so was Scott Campbell who held a top 10 position on lap 2.

So as lap 2 came to a close Dean Harrison still lead and now by over 2.5 seconds from Jamie Hamilton, Dan Frear and James Cowton. Ivan Lintin, James Coward, Steven Procter, David Hewson, Daley Mathison and Scott Campbell rounded out the top 10 at the end of lap 2.

Lap 3 saw no major changes at the front of the race but the battle for second place was getting closer and closer as both Dan Frear and James Cowton where reeling in Jamie Hamilton for second place. Ivan Lintin and James Coward both still held fifth and sixth positions whilst Steven Procter was producing a top performance holding onto seventh place.

At the end of lap 3 Dean Harrison lead by over 4.5 seconds on the Ian Bell motorcycles R6 Yamaha, Jamie Hamilton held onto second place around 0.7 of a second in front of third placed Dan Frear and James Cowton who held fourth position. Onto the final lap of the race and Dean Harrison had a comfortable advantage out front, Jamie Hamilton, Dan Frear and James Cowton continued to be all in close proximity as they all battled it out for second place.

Dean Harrison crossed the line at the end of lap 4 to record another superb victory at Oliver’s Mount. Jamie Hamilton edged out Dan Frear and James Cowton to take second place, the gap between Dan Frear and James Cowton for second place being only 0.060 of a second.

Ivan Lintin finished in fifth place in front of James Coward who finished in a consistent sixth position. Steven Procter, David Hewson, Daley Mathison and Scott Campbell rounded out the top 10. Gary Graves finished in a solid twelfth place on his R6 Yamaha whilst Manx grand prix newcomer this year James Neesom recorded a top 15 finish.

Overall a entertaining supersport 600 race that brought another great win at Oliver’s Mount for Dean Harrison. Dean on the Ian Bell motorcycles R6 Yamaha showed great composure out front in a race that Dean controlled from start to finish.
