Super Twins TT podium finisher Michael Browne, excellent 2023 race season on both the roads and short circuits, continued at the fifth USBK (Ulster Superbike) Championship round of 2023 at Bishopscourt.
Having made a last-minute decision to compete with suitors BE/RK Racing, after the remainder of this year’s Southern 100 was cancelled, the Irish Road Race Supersport Champion astride stock 1000 BMW machinery was quickly back into the purpose-built circuit racing mindset.
Third, second come the finalisation of opening Superbike race stints, the feature Maine Surface/Neil Robinson Memorial race held in rain drenched conditions would see the Republic of Ireland’s fastest TT racer, emerge on top.
5.544 seconds clear of lead pursuer, JMcC Roofing Racing’s Jason Lynn, Browne issued his delight post-race, stating:
“After the cancellation of the Southern 100, we decided to head to Bishopscourt for a bit of fun really.
The BMW works well around Bishopscourt and after winning the Enkalon Trophy earlier in the year in dry conditions, it was nice to show that we have the pace in the wet this weekend by clinching the feature race. It’s been an enjoyable weekend by all accounts.”
As showcased in my previous article, Browne’s next road race outing with BE/RK Racing, sees him tackle the Armoy ‘Race of Legends’, the final Irish road race of 2023.
