Barry Sheene Classic Preview – Part 3 – Supersport

Road Racing News Barry Sheene Classic preview series, focuses today upon the always entertaining Supersport class.

Already five times a race winner this year at Scarborough, SMT Racing’s Rob Hodson has been in fine form at North Yorkshire’s ‘Mini TT’.

All set to be aboard the Bob Smith Spring Cup podium finishing R6 Yamaha, he’s a most definite race winning contender this week.

Same notion applies to Oliver’s Mount Supersport Championship leader, Mad Bros Racing’s Gary McCoy.

Likely top Suzuki pilot, McCoy has quickly established himself amongst the higher echelon of Oliver’s Mount exponents and many believe it won’t be long till he ticks off quite the amount of race wins or two.

Others more than capable of running the near end of the RST Supersport races include 2019 Steve Henshaw Gold Cup runner-up, Mike Norbury (Thornton Racing).

Recently back in the saddle, post a lengthy lay off from race action, ‘Strawberry’ proved earlier this month during Oulton Park, Cock O’The North meets that the talent, pace, application, race craft remains in bucket loads.

Added rapid next generation roads forces, keen to further embolden their racing CV’s this week include Joe Yeardsley (Spin Arena), 2016 Senior Manx Grand Prix winner Tom Weeden (Club 77), Don Gilbert, Gorilla Racing team-mate Oliver MacRae and Toby Shann.

Further depth to the entry is provided by seasoned circuit exponents including Stephen Degnan, VRS Racing’s Sam Johnson, Kevin Barsby (Sally Nunn Racing), Paul Marley, Aran Sadler, Clayton Taylor and FB Racing’s Daniel Forbes (FB Racing).

Top classic racing team Mistral Racing also feature, with their class challenge headed by James Leatham.
