Boxing Day Bonanza At Whanganui

Absent last year, the ‘Southern Hemisphere’s Isle of Man’ the Cemetery Circuit Races makes it eagerly anticipated return next week.

Favourites for the coveted Robert Holden Memorial race crown, previously won by TT lap record holder Peter Hickman, quickest North West 200 newcomer in history Richard Cooper, include Mitch Rees.

Suzuki International Series leader Rees, broke the existing outright lap-record back in 2020, on route to finishing runner-up to brother Damon within the re-started feature race.

Outside of Honda pilot Rees, others with designs on 1000cc success include perennial CC races front runner Scott Moir.

For his latest street racing tenure, Moir synonymous with Suzuki tackle switches to R1 Yamaha machinery.

Added notable entrants include Sloan ‘Chopper’ Frost, Rogan Chandler, Zak Fuller, David Hall, Luca Durning, Hamish Tarr.

Glen Skachill, Nick Southerwood, Andrew Rudd, Heath Botica, Jonny Lewis and Newcomers Manx GP podium finisher Ben Rosendaal.

In total 19 races are set to run on Boxing Day, with F1 Superbike, F2 Supersport, yesteryear solo, Sidecar Classic, Super Twin, Supermoto, Supersport 300 class exponents each having two race stints.

Whilst the entry for the Carl Cox Motorsport supported modern Sidecar races, boasts three-wheeling heroes including Tracey Bryan/Jo Mickleson, Barry Smith/Stu Dawe and Adam Unsworth/Bryce Rose.
