Bob Smith Spring Cup Preview Part 4 – Lightweight Races
There is a great mix of hugely talented next generation International Road Racers, event veterans, Manx GP podium finishers, Oliver’s Mount specialists within the entry list for the Lightweight races at the eagerly awaited Spring Cup.

Amongst those considered strong favourites for overall honours include Welsh ace Michael Rees.

2018 Newcomers B Manx Grand Prix winner, Rees brother of Wilson Craig Racing’s Matt Rees, has quietly impressed over recent years, same applies to local hero Nick Anderson (RMKD Racing).

Like Rees, entered on 400cc machinery, he’s another contender for wins as he aims to kick start his latest Scarborough racing campaign in first rate fashion.

Added 400 mounted racers to place Spring Cup entries in are Kingston Upon Hull’s Richie Welsh, 121 plate holder John Cliffe, Damien Horgan, Kelly Carruthers, Tim Walsh and real road racing newcomer Lissy Whitmore.

250 racers wise, Rhys Hardisty has the undoubted credentials to fight for standout results whilst Ian Stanford, Ian Lougher and the Laylaw Racing Yamaha also feature on the entry list.

There’s also a small line-up of 125/Moto 3 competitors featuring the likes of Scarborough regulars Tony Flinton and Adrian Skaife.

Always carrying a great following, 125/Moto 3, 250, 400 machines are perennial favourites of various long-term Oliver’s Mount, Scarborough supporters.

Supporters old and new of race action at England’s sole active real roads course will no question be treated next weekend to more compelling, thrilling competition.
