Three qualifying successes now four wins from four starts, not a bad (putting it mildly!) 2023 Armoy Road Races thus far for Michael Dunlop.
Dunlop’s latest Armoy triumph arose from the re-started EMA Building & Civils Super Twins race.
0.401 in arrears to JMcC Roofing Racing’s Adam McLean post lap one’s conclusion, he hit the front on lap two and from here took full control of the race.
As the fifth, penultimate race lap dawned, Dunlop having his first race outing aboard KTS Racing Powered by Steadplan’s Z650 Kawasaki, led by just over 4.6 seconds with Steve Henshaw Gold Cup Champion McLean steadfastly maintaining second. Then the race was suddenly red-flagged.
Organisers quickly made the decision to call the race result, based on lap four positions meaning the top three finishing order was Dunlop, McLean, PreZ Racing’s Paul Jordan.
Outside the first three finishers, those recording fourth-tenth place finishes, completed just three laps.
Respective 4th-10th place occupiers were Marcus Simpson, Darryl Tweed, Junior Support race winner Anthony O’Carroll, Senior Classics winner Andy Hornby, Michael Gahan, Stephen McKnight, Tim Walsh.
