Armoy Road Races – Preview

The 2015 Armoy Road Races has attracted a top quality entry list.

Michael Dunlop is bidding to make it five race of legends victories in a row. Having shown world class form recently at the Southern 100, the 11 times TT winner goes into Armoy confident of securing wins in open, race of legends.

He’s all set to compete on his own teams S1000RR BMW, its the same bike that saw Michael finish a fine second in the 2015 superstock TT, as he battled the pain barrier following incident in RST superbike TT.

Four times Southern 100 solo championship winner Guy Martin, enjoyed a stellar time at Armoy in 2014, recording two victories and two second place finishes.

Tyco BMW’s Guy has enjoyed so far a highly productive season, alongside victories at the Southern 100, he’s lapped at 132.398 mph in the Pokerstars senior TT, plus has clinched victories at Spring Cup National Road Races, Cookstown 100.

Tyco BMW team mate William Dunlop, will start amongst the favourites for open, race of legends victories.

William goes into Armoy one of the most in form riders in pure road racing, following series of top class performances at Kells, Skerries, Walderstown.

He starts favourite for victory in both supersport races, as he competes on CD Racing YZF R6 Yamaha, William has this season shown ultra strong form on the bike which propelled him to back to back supersport victories at Cookstown 100.

Mar Train Racing’s Dean Harrison returns to Armoy for the first time since 2010.

The recent winner of opening senior race at Cock Of The North Road Races, is confident of more top class results as he pilots the all new YZF R1M Yamaha and the proven YZF R6 Yamaha.

Dean has the undoubted talent to push for victories, as does BikeBitsNI Racing’s Derek Sheils.

2013 Irish road race superbike champion has all the credentials to push for race of legends glory, Derek currently holds third position in the 2015 Irish road race superbike championship.

Reigning Irish road race supersport champion Derek Mcgee, is set to be amongst the leading Kawasaki mounted riders in open, race of legends as he pilots his own teams ZX10R Kawasaki.

Derek will start amongst the favourites in supersport races, he’s shown this season his undoubted pace, speed, talent in supersport 600 class.

Fellow rising road racing star Seamus Elliott, competes for the first time for Wilson Craig Racing, as he targets series of standout results.

Seamus was one of the undoubted stars at the Southern 100, recording victories in opening supersport race, and supersport part of 600/1000 race.

2014 Duke Road Race Rankings champion James Cowton embarks on his second time competing around Armoy.

The fourth place finisher in 2015 lightweight TT, competes on his own teams CBR 600 Honda in supersport races, whilst opening super twins race is set to see James pilot Ken Dobson Racing ER6 Kawasaki.

Rising road racing star Paul Jordan is more than capable of causing a surprise or two in supersport, super twin races.

As is one of the standout newcomers 2014 newcomers A Manx Grand Prix winner Billy Redmayne, Billy has shown top class form at Tandragee 100, Barry Sheene Festival Powered by Suzuki, Southern 100.

He has the pure road racing craft, to gel quickly with Armoy as he targets a standout debut, at the hugely popular meeting.

KMR Kawasaki have an all star line up for super twin races, which comprises of team manager Ryan Farquhar, two time North West 200 winner Jeremy McWilliams and newcomer to Armoy Darren James from Canada.

Further quality to the entry list is added by Keith Amor making his return to pure road racing competition, Sam Wilson, Brian Mccormack, David Lumsden.

2004 senior Manx Grand Prix winner Davy Morgan, Alan Bonner, Andy Farrell, Dave Hewson, Thomas Maxwell competing on Cookstown Burrows Engineering Racing CBR 600 Honda.

Connor Behan is tipped by many for world class results in supersport, super twin races, as he competes on AIR Kawasaki’s supersport 600 and Emerald Racing magazine backed ER6 Kawasaki.

In recent years the standard of racing at Armoy Road Races, has been on the highest quality.
