Already widely discussed, chatted about amongst various road racing aficionados, former Duke Road Race Rankings Champion Derek McGee will make a much-anticipated return to pure road racing action this weekend at Walderstown.
60 times an Irish road race winner, McGee’s participation adds extra world-class roads quality to the returning ‘Race of The South’.
Absent for the bulk of this season, it’s difficult to tell how he will compare to the likes of the in-form Michael Sweeney, BE Racing/RK Racing’s Michael Browne and Wilson Craig Racing’s Darryl Tweed.
One aspect though that you can’t question is the talent, drive, determination that the Mullingar rider possesses.
Additional racers confirmed to join McGee, the above showcased Sweeney, Browne, Tweed at Walderstown include Paul Fallon, 2018 Newcomers A Manx GP winner Thomas Maxwell and notable roads newcomer Kevin Keyes.
Keyes who has most recently competed for the G&S Racing squad, racing resume includes been a previous KTM British Junior Cup front-runner, multiple Pirelli National Superstock 600 podium finishes and success in the Dunlop Masters series.
Competitive action at the Fore Motor Cycle Racing Club Ltd organised Walderstown Road Races, commences from Saturday afternoon, with roads closing at 12:30 PM.
Roads close for race-day on Sunday from 8:00 AM with a ten-race schedule in prospect.
