Adverse Weather Halts Armoy Road Races

Unfortunately due to continuing adverse weather, all of today’s race action at the Armoy Road Races, has been abandoned.

Anticipated front runners today prior to event cancellation included Supersport, Super Twins, 125/Moto 3, Open Superbike pole sitter Derek McGee, Cookstown BE Racing’s Davey Todd, Michael Sweeney and opening Supersport victor Paul Jordan.

A recent statement issued via Facebook by event organisers, Armoy Motorcycle Road Racing Club Limited, stated why there was no other option but to cancel all remaining competition at the tenth Race of Legends meeting.

“Given the conditions of the course and the weather today, due consideration has taken place by the stewards officiating and the Clerk of the Course, in addition to senior competitors. A decision has been made in the interest of safety to abandon this meeting.

The Club would like to thank and acknowledge the support of the competitors, sponsors, volunteers and public. We can only look forward to next year’s event.”

One can have nothing but sympathy for the hard working event organisers, who have endured rotten luck today, with a mix of circumstances well and truly out of their control.
