Occurring early last month, at the same time as Dymokury Road Races in the Czech Republic and the Steve Henshaw Gold Cup at Oliver’s Mount, two hill-climb tracks Merleac (7th September) and Pontivy Airport (14th September) hosted back-to-back race weekends, first, final rounds of this year’s ‘Championnat De Bretagne Vitesse’ in Brittany, France.
Two interesting names featured amongst the race results, firstly Timothee Monot (P2 in Supersport category at Merleac).
Strongly established in Northwest 200, TT, Macau Grand Prix, Daytona 200 racing circles plus European road races including Horice, Terlicko, he last-month made his 2RAT Records meeting (straight-liners event – 1.25 mile long drag-strip) debut at Elvington Airfield in England, going onto bank aboard ZX-10R Kawasaki metal a best speed of 222.891 mph.
Guillaume Mercier (P7 – Supersport class at Pontivy) was this year a Northwest 200 newcomer but he had an unfortunate moment during opening practice, qualifying explorations whilst piloting Basomba Racing’s R6 Yamaha, ending prematurely his first NW200 campaign.
In recent months Mercier has mixed roads scene, purpose-built circuit racing thrills at Chimay (Open Trophy extravaganza) and the BeNeLux round at Carole Circuit.
It is important to support all events, both large and small and it is always great to see in all corners of the world, passionate road racing fans, who want to see true superheroes skillsets up close.
