First-and-foremost, congratulations to Josh Herrin on becoming the joint most winning rider in Daytona 200 history.
Attaining a fourth consecutive ‘200’ win after Rahal Ducati Moto team-mate PJ Jacobsen, crashed out of a five-second plus race-lead, with eight laps to go, Herrin joins ‘Mr Daytona’ Scott Russell, Miguel Duhamel on five event victories.
Onto international road racers fortunes, Daytona International Speedway debutant, ‘AKA Driver’ Gary Johnson (GRD Racing Suzuki), finished top UK racer in a very respectable nineteenth position.
TT Races, Ulster Grand Prix lap-record holder Peter Hickman managed despite technical gremlins to finish race proceedings, placing twenty-ninth.
As high as eleventh, Hickman and his own team’s factory supported PHR Performance Triumph’s progress, was-largely-thwarted during his second scheduled pit-stop, loosing bags and bags of time.
None the less a race finish given how action packed (involving two major offs), his latest D200 campaign has been, is an achievement and credit to him and the whole PHR Performance squad.
Team-mate, Davey Todd as reported yesterday, was a non-starter today post an incident within the opening qualifying session.
Danny Webb (Team Classic Suzuki), the UK’s first IRRC Champion in 2018, rostrum finishing aspirations ended on lap one of the second race start, following a multi rider incident.
