By Held last weekend, the twelfth Oberlausitzer Dreieckrennen edition in Germany (little over ten minutes-drive away from active Luckendorfer Bergrennen road race hill-climb track, near Czech border), was-held on a nice, 5.9 kilometres long, road race triangle circuit between Saalendorf, Jonsdorf and Waltersdorf.
A mixture of controlled, non-lap timed, two-wheel, three-wheel, four-wheel (including Trabant class) demonstration heats without battles for race rankings or maximum top-speeds took place.
The good spirits from last Saturday’s action, evoking similar vibes to Jurby Day on IOM shores, alternated on Sunday afternoon when races were-prematurely cancelled due to an incident in the four-wheel sport-car category.
IRRC, ESR Championship, roads scene luminaries on track during this meeting, included:
Didier Grams – Five times IRRC Superbike Champion, the most-winning IRRC Superbike competitor (thirty-eight wins), ended last season his active racing career, aboard SBK BMW machinery sporting his traditional twenty-six plate number.
Nico Muller – Same as above-mentioned ‘Didi,’ hailing from Saxony region, event wildcard podium finisher in last month’s second ESR Superbike race at Horice, rode the same ‘Czech TT’ rostrum finishing steed alongside two Classic bikes, one been a fifty-years old 500cc MV Agusta.
Petr Najman – Currently second overall in IRRC Supersport before season finale at Frohburger Dreieck this weekend, last week had yesteryear Honda, 300 Curves of Gustav Havel Superbike race winning R1 Yamaha metal at his disposal.
Rico Vetter – 300 Curves of Gustav Havel Horice – four times consecutive Open 250cc race victor, presently eighth within 2026 IRRC Supersport Championship standings, started with unique German factory racing bike, 300cc Schuttoff (made in 1923 – same year when aforementioned Luckendorfer Bergrennen, and Schleizer Dreieck were founded), owned by IRRC mechanic of Gary Johnson.
Christoph Kreller and Paul Manx – IRRC/ESR Superbike experienced racers, S1000RR BMW and CBR1000RR Honda mounted.
Rob Van Eijs – Another IRRC/ESR stalwart, played an instrumental role in helping ESR (European Series Road Racing) development.
Maxim Zanaska – Up, coming talented Czech racer, IRRC Supersport/IRRC Sportbike wildcard at Horice in recent years, set for Frohburger Dreieck debut next week in Moto Trophy Twins, IRRC Sportbike races, was yesteryear Sidecars passenger last week aside Karel Dlabola.
Provisional 2027 dates for Oberlausitzer Dreieck, thirteenth event edition are 11th-12th of September.
