Today’s fastest overall Classic Superbike exponent, triple Irish Road Race Superbike Champion Derek Sheils is really enjoying his first Oliver’s Mount, Scarborough outing since 2016.
Riding for recent Manx GP winners Greenall Racing, piloting ZXR 750 Kawasaki machinery, Sheils stated before his qualifying heroics, about his first Scarborough racing venture of this decade.
“Looking forward to getting out on the bike, enjoyable, nice little track, ride around have a bit of craic.”
He went onto add:
“So long since I was here last, pretty bumpy coming up towards the jumps there but it feels all good, grand, really enjoying it.
The bikes handling lovely, obviously the boys have put a serious effort into this outfit.”
Keen to compete again next year for Greenall Racing at selected meetings, Sheils disclosed that he has a few offers on the table for International roads events in 2023.
“We’ll see what happens, few offers there from McAdoo and stuff, got to weigh it all up and see what happens over winter.”
His main focus racing wise though at present is on North Yorkshire’s ‘Mini TT’, reminding everyone of his prowess at one of pure road racing’s most unique, historic circuits.
