2025 Tandragee 100: Last Lap Drama, Tweed Super Twins Victor

Under forty minutes post Caomhan Canny, winning the re-scheduled into today’s Tandragee 100 racing schedule, Birds Senior Support race, the Tayto Super Twins race exploration launched into fruition.

Cut to four-laps, competitors were given the opportunity pre-race, to change tyres as conditions began to steadily dry up around the 5.3 miles long Tandragee course.

Darryl Tweed (Novo Gen by FAO Racing – Aprilia) topped the field, as lap one wrapped up, leading pole-sitter Michael Sweeney (MSR- Aprilia) by 1.83 seconds with third to fifth Joe Yeardsley, Barry Furber, Marcus Simpson all in the mix.

At lap two’s conclusion, Sweeney was right with Tweed, moving to within 0.268 of the Ballymoney rider.

Scott Racing’s Yeardsley kept third but was now 5.596 in arrears to the front running pair of Tweed and Sweeney.

Sweeney moved into the race lead on lap three, accruing a narrow 0.206 advantage over Tweed whilst Furber (DC Motorcycles Newtown – Yamaha) slotted ahead of Yeardsley for third.

A dramatic race finish ensued with Sweeney leading into Bells Crossroads, making a last gasp mistake, running straight on, enabling Tweed to take victory laurels.

Tweed’s final lap, the fastest lap of the race (3.06.320) is just over two seconds slower than the existing Super Twins lap-record, held by Adam McLean.

Northwest 200 podium finisher Furber out tussled Yeardsley (P4), Simpson (P5) for third whilst sixth place went to Neil Kernohan.

Seventh to tenth were Sean Brolly, Andy Farrell, Ryan Whitehall having his first race outing in Team ILR with Frog Vehicle Developments colours and Liam Chawke.
