2025 Steve Henshaw Gold Cup – Preview Part 4 – Lightweight Duels

Class spoils x3 are up for grabs in this weekend’s six-lap Road Racing News, Gold Cup Lightweight races.

Since joining the Scarborough racing itinerary in 2023, the CB 500 Honda category has quickly developed a positive following from hardy, seasoned pure road racing enthusiasts.

Eight racers have secured entries for the latest CB 500, Oliver’s Mount racing bursts, including:

Regular class front-runners Liam McPherson (McPherson Construction Ltd) and Richard Hughes (GWH Fabrications Ltd), Newton MOT Racing’s Ryan Arnold, Gordon Clark (GDC Racing), Shaun O’Hara (Advanced Vehicle Alarms), Richard Blunt (Rapid Light Transport Racing).

In terms of 125/Moto 3, 400cc 4-stroke competitors, the entry total amounts to eighteen.

Notable entrants, to name but a-few include:

Eight times Sidecar TT winner, the ever-versatile Dan Sayle (Falcon Electrical), 2024 Barry Sheene Trophy winner Don Gilbert, sole German competitor Chris Meyer.

2019 Newcomers C Manx Grand Prix runner-up Adrian Skaife (DJ Byers Security Solutions/Golden Site Solutions), the evergreen Tony Flinton, journalist/writer John McComisky.

William Grant (Cowton Racing – Ninja Kawasaki), local favourite Nick Anderson (RMKD Racing Kawasaki), 400cc 4-Stroke Oliver’s Mount Championship leader Stephen Gorton (Leigh MOTs – Kawasaki).

Recent Manx GP debutant Charlie Hopkins, Andrew Jones (Jones Racing – Kawasaki), Kingston Upon Hull’s Richie Welsh (Edens Experiences – Yamaha).

Greg Haylott, new wave female road racers, Lissy Whitmore (Baxto Racing by Jetz Technical Services – Kawasaki) and Ashley Robson (Shirlaws Ltd – Kawasaki).
