As we previously reported, round two of this year’s European Hill Climb Road Championship at Spoleto in Italy, held last weekend, was intertwined with the CIVS (Campionato Italiano Velocita in Salita) season opener.
In changeable weather, double wins in Superbike races, one victory in Supersport (Race 2) European Hill Climb Road Race affiliated explorations, multiple wins within CIVS SuperOpen 600 and SuperOpen 1000 races after battles with four-stroke races podium finishers like David Lignite, Thomas Altendorfer, Francesco Maria Piva, Salvatore Corvo, Gabriele Peticca and Daniele Stolli went to new overall, quickest Spoleto/Forca Di Cerro rider of all time, Maurizio Bottalico.
The Manx GP to TT 2025 graduate, beat last year’s Spoleto track record (new lap-record 1.05.45) set by his friend, the late Luca Salvadori.
It means also first entry ever into ‘Luca Salvadori, L’Assoluta Challenge’, for the rider who collects the absolute fastest times from CIVS rounds of this season.
