Before the blue-riband race, the Merrow Hotel & Spa Superbike contest, Super Twins took for the final time this year to the Triangle course.
Nonstarters included Jamie Coward (wishing him a very speedy recovery), Peter Hickman, Pierre Yves Bian, Christian Elkin and following a fall in the Tides Restaurant Supersport race, Jeremy McWilliams.
As within the previous Twins encounter, Richard Cooper and Adam McLean were the main P1 finishing candidates.
McLean’s Flitwick Motorcycles/SMV Yamaha, was sounding sweet as he blasted past the finish-line at the end of lap two, carrying a 0.849 lead over former National Superstock 1000 Champion, BSB race winner Cooper.
By university on lap three, Cooper had regained touch with McLean.
Paul Jordan (Jackson Racing – Aprilia) in third, was now starting to drop away, over five seconds in arrears.
Then drama, drama towards lap three’s finalisation, Cooper and McLean had collided, they were both out!
This elevated 50-plate carrier Jordan into first, which he preserved for the remainder of lap four, to score his first NW200 victory.
Skerries Michael Sweeney was a popular second with Bishop Castle’s Barry Furber a superb third.
South African international roads star AJ Venter took fourth, under 0.2 behind Furber. FAO Racing’s Darryl Tweed was fifth as Jonathan Goetschy (Optimark Road Racing), Mauro Poncini, Kris Duncan, Senior Manx Grand Prix winner Dan Ingham, Dean McMaster respectively placed sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth.
