2025 Manx GP Chat: Genial Spaniard Victor Ortega

2025 Manx GP Chat: Genial Spaniard Victor Ortega

Racing the 37 and three quarters miles long Mountain Course, marks the highpoint of countless racers seasons.

This is 100 percent the case for Spain’s only Mountain Course representative, for the second successive year, Victor Ortega.

Back on Sunday, MGP qualifying explorations started positively, with the genial Spaniard nearing personal best pace.

Detailing how Supersport/Senior Q1 activity unfolded, the top ten Newcomers ‘A’ race finisher from 2019, said:

“We did the same laps in practice as within all of last year’s Manx Grand Prix, conditions were brilliant around the course, sunny, warm so my Spanish man gets comfortable through sunny time!”

Back aboard the KS (Kev Spur) Performance ZX-6R Kawasaki, Ortega who last night, lapped over 110 mph (110.256), stated when asked what his main aims, aspirations are for this year’s Manx:

“I am just aiming to improve as much as I can my personal best record and try and get into the TT lap times, so hopefully we can get there next year.”

In the run up to MGP venture number five, Ortega has been keeping sharp, tackling national Championship classic races back home.

“We are racing the Spanish Championship classic side, CBR, 98 CBR and all that, so to be fair, I get any bike I can to make as much track time as I can for mind and physical fitness.”

A previous competitor back in 2016 at his nations’ top road race, the La Baneza Grand Prix, he explained why he has not sampled the Leon based meeting in recent years.

“I raced there in 2016, that was mega experience, I want to go there but because it is so close to the Manx, I’ve been in recent years not going there just in case some injury happens.

But if we are finally doing the TT next year for sure I will be at La Baneza in 2026.”
