Four times a race winner at his local circuit, Oliver’s Mount, Toby Shann is making brisk in roads into the higher echelon of Manx Grand Prix leader boards.
Presently, fourth, sixth fastest across this week’s Supersport/Senior, Super Twins/Junior qualifying forays, the York rider who has taken unofficially his personal best Mountain Course lap-speed to 117.130 mph, stated that PB lap times/lap speeds is the minimum he is aiming to achieve.
“That’s the least I would like to do, I have a couple of goals in mind, but I won’t share those just yet.”
Astride one of Cowton Racing’s Z650 Kawasaki’s, Shann’s Supersport steed is his own JW Trackdays sponsored 675R Triumph.
“Mirror image bike as last year, the Triumph is mine and Cowton Racing guys help me out as well as with the Twin that is theirs.”
Currently undecided about competing at the Steve Henshaw Gold Cup, Shann said he will be racing again at Oliver’s Mount, Scarborough in 2026.
“Definitely back at Scarborough, it is my local circuit I am based in York, so Scarborough is an absolute treat to go to.
It is good-fun, and I know a-lot of the local guys around there, couple of friends, Will (Grant) just behind us now and then Paul Marley as well so we have a nice little rivalry and have a bit of a laugh also.”
Going onto state that he started racing with the main goal, to compete on the roads, he is firmly one to watch in tomorrow, Monday’s MGP races.
