2025 Cock O’The North: Sunday Races Review

2025 Cock O’The North: Sunday Races Review

Blue skies, sun, only a dash of wet weather, thirteen alluring races taking place, first rate atmosphere, day two of this year’s Oliver’s Mount, Cock O’The North Road Races, was a proper success.

The hardy, enthusiastic trackside crowd, observed up close all what makes North Yorkshire’s ‘Mini TT’ so authentic, real.

Enjoying much more the drier conditions, in comparison to the wet, mixed ones which afflicted the bulk of Saturday’s races, SMT Racing’s Rob Hodson, charged to four wins from race starts.

Hodson, aboard the same YZF R6 Yamaha, S1-R Paton bikes, as raced at TT 2025, commanded both Pub & Kitchen Super Twin encounters, the third, final HMH Civils Supersport (A) race, registering winning margins, all topping 9.4 seconds.

The eight-lap feature race, saw the Wigan rider follow the likes of Dean Harrison, Ryan Farquhar, Ian Hutchinson in claiming the prestigious crown, his first Oliver’s Mount ‘Major’.

Aran Sadler, Classic Superbike races two and three victor, finished runner-up, 6.959 adrift with MKM Building Supplies Burnley supported, John Marsh wrapping up the podium finishers.

Johnny Stewart, David McArthur, Joey Lambden unlocked fourth to sixth place finishes whilst top debutant in eighth was Twins races Two & Three runner-up, synonymous Aberdare Park ‘King Pin’, Ryan Dixon.

Speaking of Scarborough newcomers, one must highlight Cowton Racing’s Franco Bourne, lapping sub 1 minute 51.7 seconds, on route to second in the day’s sole Supersport (A) contest.

Stephen Gorton (overall Lightweight/CB 500 winner x2), Adam Shelton, Dan Sayle obtained 400cc 4-Stroke, CB 500, 125/Moto 3 duplexes.

Paul Moir joined Gorton, Shelton, Sayle in going the meeting unbeaten in a specific class, winning the morning, afternoon Supersport (B) race explorations, holding off plucky pursuits from the likes of Martin Robbins, Steve Hardy, Arthur Gissing, and Stephen Ryan.

Father/son team, the Ramsdens Steve & Matty, returned to winning ways today, having twice had to usurp from P1, yesterday’s triumphant duo Michael Kirkup/Josh Smith.

Kirkup/Smith dropped back to third in final finishing positions, from the second J.Hughes Plant F2 Sidecars race but went one place better in the following contest, edging out previous race, second place clinchers, Carl Fenwick/Jake Roberts.

Greg Lambert/Andrew Haynes, James Hanks/Jonathan Kirk shared Pre-Injection Sidecars honours whilst the day’s only L.May Plant Support race, featuring only eight starters, went to first time Scarborough winner, Charlie Hopkins, winning a close fought race with another impressive newcomer, Adam Jamison.

That is that for Cock O’The North Road Races 2025 style; lets’ all hope the weather gods are as obliging again next month!
