Co-in siding with Imatranajo and the Boecourt – La Caquerelle Hill Climb in Switzerland, last week the fourth CIVS (Campionato Italiano Velocita in Salita) round of this season entered fruition.
Hosting CIVS Round 4 was the Isola Del Liri to Alpino public roads circuit (halfway between cities Rome and Naples), with competition organised by ‘Moto Club Castelliri Riders Ciociaria’.
Current leader of Superbike and Supersport categories of European Hill Climb Road Race Championship, TT 2025 exponent Maurizio Bottalico (SuperOpen 1000 winner x4, SuperOpen 600 x2) set a new overall, Super Open 1000 (Superbike) track record on Saturday, lapping at 1.17.39 seconds, which he would lower to 1.16.59 on Sunday, (his previous record track times, were set in 2022 – 1.18.42 with Supersport metal and 1.18.56 with SBK apparatus in 2023).
Bottalico’s latest tumultuous racing achievements, mean full points towards the ‘Luca Salvadori, L’Assoluta Challenge,’ for the rider who collects the absolute fastest times from CIVS rounds of this season.
Francesco Maria Piva, an IRRC Superbike wildcard last year at Schleizer Dreieck, placed quadruply third in SuperOpen time trial bouts behind Gabriele Peticca (P2 x4). Local hero Francesco Cianfararani (SuperOpen 600 Sunday time-trial victor x2) set new track- record for Supersport category with his personal best lap of 1.16.96 seconds.
Daniele Stolli who started with above-mentioned Maurizio Bottalico last month at Austrian Julbach Hill Climb, (same as for instance, two times Crono Climber 1350 classic race winner, Vitas Frigo Babbi) took SuperOpen 800×3 triumphs times three whilst there was also one win in this category for Nicola Baroni.
The last two 2025 CIVS rounds, will grace San Marino (9th-10th of August) and Saline-Volterra (20th-21st September).
Before that road racing and especially Maurizio Bottalico fans, will have the opportunity to see him fighting for European Hill Climb Road Race Championship crowns, at season finale at Luckendorfer Bergrennen near Zittau in Germany (2nd-3rd of August). All roads scene aficionados are welcome to attend!
