2024 NW200 Preview – Part 2 – Superstock Races

2024 NW200 Preview – Part 2 – Superstock Races
Widely considered the most important class to manufacturers, Superstock races at all road races continuously guarantee distinct, thorough, forthright action.

Same applies to stock 1000 contests at the upcoming Briggs Equipment Northwest 200.

Rapid during pre-season testing, Davey Todd (Milwaukee BMW), already a three times NW200 winner is ultra-keen to add 1000cc roads success to his meeting resume.

Candidly speaking about his latest, upcoming NW200 expedition, he stated:

“We now arrive at the NW200 as a strong team on M1000RR BMW’s. I’ve seen first-hand the success of both the team and the M1000RR on the roads, so it’s my plan to be part of that success story, and no better place than in front of the Irish fans at the NW200.

It’s a great event with big atmosphere, and speed, on those straights into Coleraine and Portrush. The Milwaukee BMWs will be just the job.”

Intensifying BMW Motorrad’s class presence alongside Todd is outright lap record holder Peter Hickman (PHR Performance).

Stock 1000 winner four times at the TT Races, Hickman has twice topped the category on the Triangle course, and you’d be brave to not top him for more honours next week.

Honda’s challenge is led by a selection of international road racing alumni, including:

New Honda Racing signing Dean Harrison, James Hillier (WTF Racing), Conor Cummins, Milenco by Padgetts team-mate Ian Hutchinson.

25 times TT winner Michael Dunlop (MD Racing), John McGuinness MBE (Honda Racing).

Others Honda mounted include fitness permitting Lee Johnston (Ashcourt Racing), Julian Trummer (Jackson Racing), Nathan Harrison (Honda Racing), Craig Neve (Bathams Racing), Paul Jordan (Jackson Racing).

In terms of ‘Team Green’ entrants, anticipated lead Kawasaki runner is Lee Hardy Racing’s David Johnson.

Added notable entrants in the four, six-lap Amici Ristorante, CP Hire Superstock races include Michael Sweeney, IRRC Superbike Champion Lukas Maurer, Eddy Ferre, fitness permitting Didier Grams.

Cookstown 100 ‘Man of The Meeting’ Dominic Herbertson, David Datzer, Erno Kostamo (Penz 13), Sam West, Michael Evans, Ryan Whitehall, fellow IOM racer Paul Cassidy.

Not forgetting NW200 first timers such as 2023 Senior Manx Grand Prix runner-up Marcus Simpson, Karel Pesek and race victor times two, last week at Cookstown, Kevin Keyes.

As with the Superbike and Supersport classes, the Superstock NW200 entry of 2024 has a vibrant mix of works, semi works, International-winning, ambitious next gen road racers.

Pulsating action, dramatic overtakes, bold moves, intoxicating competition, are just some of the phrases that spectators and the wider roads fraternity more than likely will be echoing next week.
