2024 Manx GP Chat: Next Gen Roads Alumni Jim Hind

Widely tipped for elite TT results in the near-future Lincolnshire’s Jim Hind, quietly has rose up the Mountain Course rider ranks.

Manx GP winner times two in 2019, he possesses a present PB TT lap speed of 129.444 mph, making him the 22nd quickest active TT participant.

Astride for 2024 MGP action, the iconic sounding rotary, Wiz Norton, Hind (fourth rapidest – Classic SBK qualifying leaderboard) loves the bike made famous by icons including Steve Hislop and Robert Dunlop.

“Yeah, it’s mint, it’s just like a 250 with a lot more power.”

In terms of a target finishing position, he is pinpointing at minimum a top ten finish.

“Top ten would be mint if I could get on my way to top five, you never know what might happen from there.”

A two-stroke connoisseur, Hind aboard his trusty TZ 250 Yamaha, is aiming for the rostrum in the now, reduced to two-laps Lightweight race contest.

“Hopefully podium on that of some description. Would like to win it having broken down in 2022.”

Twelve times a race winner at Oliver’s Mount, Scarborough, Hind revealed that it’s not looking likely for him to enter September’s Steve Henshaw Gold Cup.

“No, I don’t think so, maybe was going to be but they are not allowing the new Supersport generation rules, so can’t keep swapping from Suzuki to Yamaha, maybe be back there next year.”

2025 wise, it was interesting to find out whether the top five Supersport TT finisher, has had promising enquiries regarding machinery, team suitors, sponsorship.

His succinct answer around this topic, was:

“I’ve had a few enquiries, but nothing set in stone yet so just get the Manx out the way and fingers crossed.”
