Some racers go road racing for the thrill, the challenges it provides, the feeling of experiencing sensations that other forms of motorsport can’t match.
In Victor Ortega Perez’s case, it’s pure passion.
“All the effort you have put through the season to get here, all the money you have spent, all the issues with family and friends.
They are pushing you but they want you at home so, all the difficult times and things we go through is just to gain that feeling from riding round here.”
Ninth in the Newcomers A race of 2019, the KS Performance (Kev Spur) sponsored rider yesterday unofficially bested his previous top Mountain Course lap speed, lapping at 109.580 mph.
Speaking about qualifying week up to Wednesday (23rd August), the amiable Spaniard stated:
“Trying to get used to all these speeds that we have to carry here.
It’s the not the same as short circuits, you can go 200 kilometres per hour but then you break and turn the bike, here you keep the speeds, so that is the first thing to get into the mind.”
Sticking with the same KS Performance Kawasaki, that the first raced in 2019, Ortega Perez who has previously competed at the iconic La Baneza meeting, had nothing but praise for his Senior race mount, event suitors.
“The same bike, to be fair, the bike is perfect, it’s just myself getting used to it. I started the Manx 2019 with it, same bike, same team, everything is brilliant.
Just, getting re-used to this place, improving each lap.”
Keen to emphasise the positive side of pure road racing back home, the Valencia based racer went onto discuss the sponsorship he has received from Spain located companies.
“We have a few passionate people like Tu Moto Valencia, they are a second-hand shop in Valencia.
Spoke to them, they were passionate about the project, because this is not a winning project, we are not going to win, it’s just about passion and joy, that’s what we are looking for coming here.
The sponsors who started with me, they keep with me and that makes me proud.”
