Fingers clicked and just like that, TT 2025 is over in a flash.
It is a straightforward way of putting it, but every TT goes in a flash, especially if your fully immersed in the event, whether as a racer, team member, marshal, organiser, fan, reporter, photographer.
Despite the persistent duff weather across the last two weeks, the workload for journalists like yours truly, is still off the scale.
No other event pushes you to the limit, like the TT Races.
For me, it is the ultimate motorsport event to report on, it is unique, other worldly, uncompromisingly different.
Where is the challenge of covering twenty-two riders at a Moto GP round, the same drivers’ event in, event out at Formula One?
Of course, that is me been simplistic here, but you thrive on chasing stories that gain you a sense of feeling in the moment, the TT gives you this, times a trillion.
But it is not the obvious stories, it’s the unsung hero ones, little snippets of gold as the saying goes from John Pilger, there are many truths, many versions of the truth, you’ve got to go out there, find it and report it.
As an event, the TT is truly now an oxymoron, maverick in its nature but also extremely, visibly corporate now, plethora of ‘knowledgeable’ VIPS about.
Totally understand, how certain changes help funding, completely get it but the F1/Moto GP style vibe, gradually dripping in, does not in my opinion make sense.
This is pure road racing, not the Monaco Grand Prix, alter things to much and the non distilled magic goes.
Walking around the paddock, throughout the last two weeks, you could sense the dismay of certain hardy TT fans.
At the same time, there is a new generation of fans, super happy trackside, at the fan-park, in the Grandstand, as I have said before, it depends upon your situation, how changes to the TT affect you.
Chapeau to all Mountain Course competitors of TT 2025, everyone, a true, sporting superhero.
Once again, wishing a very swift and speedy recovery to those, feeling a bit second hand post injuries within qualifying week/race week.
