Finland’s top pure road racer Erno Kostamo, is now a part of Parker Transport Racing’s TT 2025 rider line-up, having agreed to pilot YZF R6 Yamaha apparatus originally intended for Ryan Cringle, now absent through spinal injuries sustained in a Supermoto incident.
2022 Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix Champion Kostamo, earlier this month shone throughout the Briggs Equipment Northwest 200, capturing four top eight finishes, taking seventh in the feature Superbike encounter.
Detailing why he’s made the decision to add Supersport explorations, to his 2025 TT Races campaign, he said:
“When Gerry (Parker) first reached out, my initial reaction was that there’s no way this could work on such short notice, and I said no.
My budget is tight as a privateer competing in the Superstock and Superbike classes, so even small additional costs would be too much. Plus, it’s been almost 13 years since I last rode a 600.
However, Gerry clearly knows riders very well and gave me time to think it over. Now I’m part of their team, and I can’t wait for this opportunity and to take the next step in my road racing career with them.”
Parker Transport Racing, Team Manager Gerry Parker stated:
“We are very excited to have Erno Kostamo #38 on board for this year’s TT competing on Ryan’s Yamaha R6 completing our 3-rider line-up.
Erno is a rider with heaps of talent and capability, He has shown this throughout his career for example the NW200 Superbike race where he finished 5th! Erno is also a former Macau GP winner and is great addition to our team!
The SuperSport class is a class Erno hasn’t been riding in recently, but we will hopefully get him out to Jurby for a few tests beforehand.
We believe we have a strong team and a good chance to have some good results. We wish for a safe and successful event, and we hope Ryan has a speedy recovery.”
