2015 Super Twins, 2022 Classic Superbike Manx Grand Prix winner Rob Hodson goes into TT 2025 with the extra fillip of a first Superbike Mountain Course exploration, thanks to suitors SMT Racing.
Robin Croft’s team have secured CBR 1000RR-R Fireblade SP machinery, previously piloted by TT wins record holder Michael Dunlop.
It’s the same steed, Hodson was aboard at last year’s weather interrupted Macau Grand Prix.
Commenting about his third TT campaign with SMT Racing, riding Superstock Honda, Supersport R6 Yamaha (Vehicle Recovery Services Ltd supported), S1-R Paton metal alongside aforementioned SBK equipment, Hodson whose made a profitable start to 2025 racing endeavours, having taken wins at NEMCRC Croft, EMRA Mallory Park meetings, stated:
“One of the most pleasing aspects about the year ahead is continuing with SMT Racing for a third year; we’ve had a good couple of years already so 2025 will hopefully be more of the same.
I’m also looking forward to having my first TT on a full-blown Superbike thanks to the team purchasing the bike from Hawk Racing.
We ran it at the Macau Grand Prix in November, so I already have a few miles under our belt.”
Wigan’s speediest TT pilot (personal best lap speed – 130.327 mph), added:
“We’ve a good set up across the classes and I’ll be aiming to get back in amongst the top ten and 130 mph+ laps in the big bike races.
Whilst running four bikes this year will bring its own challenges, if I can make progress on them all, we’ll have another good TT so that’s the clear aim.”
