Not long post Monday afternoon’s solo action finalising, timed Sidecars qualifying TT 2023 style opened.
FHO Racing’s Pete Founds/Jevan Walmsley made a fine start to their TT 2023 challenge, outpacing the Birchall’s Ben & Tom post opening timed laps.
Ensuing flying laps would see the leading crews register 117 mph laps, respectively unlocking lap speeds of 117.431, 117.153 mph.
All that separated the first, second fastest driver/passenger partnerships in TT history was a mere 2.749 seconds.
Already sizzling three-wheeling competition at this year’s TT.
Mountain Course racing returnee Alan Founds was quickly back into groove, banking alongside Jake Lowther, a 113.485 mph lap, putting him third on today’s times sheet.
Others vaulting over the 110-mph lap mark were TT legends, 890cc KTM powered Dave Molyneux/Dan Sayle (112.082) and Gary Bryan/Phil Hyde (111.944).
Newcomer driver Daryl Gibson joined by Tom Christie, caught the eye, lapping at 107.497 mph, equating timing wise to just over 21 minutes.
Added lap speeds of note included John Saunders/James Saunders (108.865), Steve Ramsden/Matty Ramsden (108.407), Wayne Lockey/Matty Rostron (105.718) whilst overall 16 crews nudged past the 100 mph lap barrier.
