Just as I was leaving the TT paddock, following the Milwaukee Senior race’s conclusion, I managed to gain an impromptu chat with Team Classic Suzuki’s Shaun Anderson.
12th in yesterday’s six-lap Senior encounter, the Banbridge racer has enjoyed a high-quality TT 2023 campaign, joining the 130-mph club, sealing finishes no lower than thirteenth from 1000cc, Supersport races.
Tenth within last week’s RST Superbike race, he ushered nothing but positive vibes when summing up his latest Mountain Course tenure.
“Brilliant, the event was a bit funny last year, coming back and all the rest, really back in full swing now.
The weather has obviously made that but overall, the organisers have put a lot of effort in, course was mint, organisation was relatively flawless and I myself came aware with six starts, six finishes, good momentum, 130 club.
That was a big tick box done for me, to be able crack into that, so all we can do is keep moving forward.”
Going into further detail about what it means to join the aforementioned 130-mph club, he stated:
“Unreal, I think me and Dom (Herbertson) joined on the same day, 23rd, 24th members.
To be in that elite end of things, it was always a dream. It seemed possible, but it was always a dream, since 2018 been chasing that.”
“In theory, you try and justify it, with ideals, putting your sectors together and you know it’s there.
But to be able to execute it, I remember specifically Sarah (Anderson) running towards me just saying you’ve done it, you’d done it and I didn’t know what I’ve done.
She says you’ve done 130 and my head dropped on the thank, that’s about as emotional as I get.”
