17 times Oliver’s Mount, Scarborough race winner Joey Thompson, is all set to join the Macau Grand Prix rider ranks in November.
Disclosed this evening via Facebook, North West 200 podium finisher, former BSB exponent Thompson is planning to pilot S1000RR BMW tackle for suitors HeatTech Racing.
After a challenging start to the 2022 roads season with Wilson Craig Racing, the highly ambitious Thompson has since shown accomplished form at Aberdare Park, the Armoy Road Races, Jurby, the Mid Antrim 150 and this month’s Scarborough Gold Cup.
Looking ahead to the returning Macau GP, Thompson stated about his upcoming first competitive stint, around the Guia Circuit:
“This is a great opportunity for me! The current situation with quarantine and the amount of travelling is not ideal but this is something I have wanted to be a part of for a while now so I must grab the opportunity and go and learn.”
HeatTech Racing Team Owner Nigel Humphreys added:
“It’s an event that I’ve always been interested in. I believe that by doing it, it will help increase the coverage to the rest of the world.
I also think it will be a good learning curve for the team for future international events.”
