Straightliners Speed Show, Elvington – Roads Competitor Watch

Held adjacent to the Yorkshire Air Museum, yesterday, today the Straightliners Speed Show illuminated Elvington Airfield.

Static machine displays, stalls selling drag racing, motorsport themed products, timed speed runs, the chance to experience virtually, TT laps with Peter Hickman, Guy Martin, Michael Dunlop, rides in ultra-expensive sports cars, supercars, petrolheads attending were in for a treat.

Saturday’s speed-runs led by Terry Mountford (aboard a true one-off, super, super fast GSXR 1000 Suzuki incarnation) featured bikes including an ex-Storm Stacey Kawasaki, Vespa scooters, quirky steeds such as an 250cc MZ, Tiger SP 660cc Tiger Triumph and CRF 450cc Honda.

Road’s scene wise, Greg Lambert, whose Sidecar School was showing what three-wheeling competition is all-about to ‘Slidey’ novices.

Speaking yesterday to Road Racing News, the four decades TT Races competitor disclosed that for 2026 alongside Andrew Haynes, he will be aboard the same Honda powered outfit (tweaked technically – due to imposed new regulations), for his thirty first TT Races campaign.

Poised to additionally sample Pre-Injection Sidecar contests at all-four Oliver’s Mount, Scarborough meetings (astride yesteryear BMW powered tackle), take in Bemsee (British Motorcycle Racing Club) events, Lambert will-be-joined on the TT 2026 starting list by protégé James Hanks.

Hanks, 2025 Pre-Injection Oliver’s Mount Racing Champion, looks set to be the only newcomer driver in this year’s TT Races.
