An overused phrase at times in print, on television, on radio but Sporting Goliath you can attribute viscerally to these two 2-wheeling heroes, Sir Mark Cavendish KBE and Michael Dunlop.
Recently the pair met up, discussing their careers on the road and track.
Both having an extraordinary will to win, hunger for success, immense pain barrier, individuals like them are few and far between in the world of sport.
Achievements wise, it’s hard to summarise succinctly, given the breadth, depth of victories, accolades.
There’s a World Road Race Championship triumph, the all-time TT wins record, over forty TT podium finishes, over 115 Irish road race wins, 35 Tour De France stage victories, Olympics, Commonwealth Games, Island Games medals.
The list could expand, expand and expand, that’s how decorated Dunlop and Cavendish are.
Chapeau the sporting goliaths!
