Pending all aspects aligning, there could be some tweaks to the practice, qualifying, racing itinerary at the ‘Friendly Races’, the Southern 100.
Announced today, organisers are hoping for next years’ Billown course competition to kick into gear with an afternoon session (7th July), beginning at 1:45 PM, finishing at 4:00 PM.
As showed this summer, the weather pantheons shouldn’t be relied upon for consistency.
With this, in mind allied to circumstances outside organisers control, contingency event days could be a beckoning for 2025.
Prospective contingency dates:
(Time duration near date)
9th July – 1:15 PM – 3:15 PM
10th July – 6:00 PM – 8:30 PM
Surmising the prospective schedule alterations, Race Secretary for the Southern 100, George Peach stated:
“Safety is the highest priority, and practice is a very important component of the event, and we decided that an additional session on the Monday afternoon would ease the pressure on the evening session, especially for newcomers to the races.
The contingency sessions would only be activated, firstly on the Wednesday afternoon, in the event of Monday or Tuesday sessions being lost and Thursday evening, should a large part of Thursday be lost.”
