Prospective MGP Newcomers Step Up Mountain Course Knowledge

Sixteen prospective Manx GP newcomers stepped up their pre-event preparations last weekend, as they began important next steps towards becoming Manx Grand Prix exponents.

Racers in attendance for the opening MGP newcomers weekend of 2022 included Germany’s fastest Ulster GP pilot Christian Schmitz, new wave Irish roads regulars Eoin O’Siochru and Michael Gahan.

Others with more than a touch of pure road racing experience attending included European Hill Climb Supersport Champion Maurizio Bottalico and fourth place finisher in last year’s IRRC Supersport Championship, Amalric Blanc.

Fellow countryman Yann Galli also made the trip to the Isle of Man as did Darley Moor Formula 600 Champion Albert Walker, Kelly Carruthers, Martin Morris, Mark Jackson who between them have previously sampled Irish roads, Oliver’s Mount events.

Racers not showcased yet who also took part in the Newcomers weekend are Gareth Arnold, Andy Whale, America based Stuart Clotworthy.

Former Pikes Peak Hill Climb exponent Richard Kay, Goodwood Revival winner, Cookstown Senior Classics winner Andy Hornby and the Peoples Bike Team’s Frankie Stennett.

Experienced current, former Manx GP, TT competitors to offer knowledge, tips a plenty to prospective Manx GP competitors last weekend included Rodger Wibberley, Nigel Rea, Carolynn Sells and Manx Motor Cycle Club Director, Travelling Marshal Jim Hunter.
