Oliver’s Mount Top 8: Scott Aitkin

Oliver’s Mount Top 8: Scott Aitkin

Next to take part in Road Racing News, revamped Oliver’s Mount Top 8 series is No Limits Racing CB 500 race winner, Kevin Liddle Motorsport backed Scott Aitkin.

Ten times fifth or better from Scarborough racing explorations in 2024, his answers to the set of questions, are as follows:

Q1: First memory of Oliver’s Mount?

“My first memory of Oliver’s mount was being stood on the grid as a kid and Andy McGladdery was parading my dads’ TZ (Yamaha).”

Q2: Favourite part about racing at the mount?

“I like racing at Oliver’s because it’s a road racing community, you can bump into some big names who have achieved a lot in the sport, and they’ll talk to you and help you and offer advice as much as they can.”

Q3: Favourite section of Scarborough course?

“It would be between the Esses just after Sheenes rise, the right then left I love that part of the circuit and also down out of Mount side and over Jefferies Jumps as that’s a very committed part of the course, to hold it flat through there gives you a hell of a buzz.”

Q4: Best moment thus far at Scarborough?

“Best moment so far would probably be at the Gold Cup (2024 Steve Henshaw Gold Cup) taking a 600 round for the first time, that I’d never even ridden and managing to qualify for the Super sport A race and mixing it with some quick road racing lads in the race.”

Q5: All time Scarborough racing hero?

“Not really sure I can pin this down to one person however I always look at Dean Harrison’s lap record and it blows my mind to go that quick round there, so I’d say Deano for that.”

Q6: Is there one machine in particular that you would like to race at Scarborough?

“I’d love to race a TZ 250 (Yamaha) or even any 2 stroke round there as I love 2 strokes, but they take some running so probably won’t happen ha-ha!”

Q7: One word to describe Oliver’s Mount?

“Exciting, I’d say it’s a track that has all sorts and it’s the only roads I’ve done so far, so it excites me a lot more heading there to race than short circuits!”

Q8: Most respected racing rival at Scarborough?

“I’ve had some good battles on the 500 and the 600 round the mount with many different people so I’d say I respect anyone that’s sat on that start line! We all know the risks and try to give each other more respect on the track than you would on short circuits!”
