Oliver’s Mount, Scarborough legend Ian Lougher will make a popular return to North Yorkshire shores for the 68th Scarborough Gold Cup, having secured Mark Coverdale supported S1-R Paton machinery for the Super Twin races at the prestigious meeting.
2002 Gold Cup winner, Welsh roads great Lougher has a quite incredible record at the ‘Mount’ which includes over 135 race wins, feature race successes at the Spring Cup, Cock O’The North events.
Additionally he has emerged victorious from various thrilling battles for victories with fellow International roads luminaries such as John McGuinness, Guy Martin, Michael Dunlop, Bruce Anstey, Ian Hutchinson and Ryan Farquhar.
Hugely looking forward to his latest Gold Cup expedition, Lougher who will compete this month under his own teams Team ILR (Ian Lougher Racing) banner, stated via Team ILR’s official website.
“I’m really looking forward to returning to Oliver’s Mount, particularly on the Paton. It’s a circuit I first raced on back in 1985 and I haven’t missed a year since, that’s something I’m particularly proud of, along with my tally of record race wins.
Eddie (Roberts) and Mick (Grant) and the Two Four Three Road Racing Association, along with everyone involved, have worked tirelessly behind the scenes and are to be commended for their efforts in bringing motorcycle racing back to ‘the Mount’.”
