Monday afternoon, encouraging pure road racing, Oliver’s Mount Racing news.
Today’s uplifting disclosure, first reported by This Is The Coast – Local Radio, sees England’s only active real roads venue, gain much needed financial, strategic help from the North Yorkshire Council.
£780,000 pounds worth of council funding is going towards getting Jackson’s Lane, the long-term route for race fans to Scarborough’s ‘Nurburgring’, fully repaired, fully up to scratch.
Speaking to Road Racing News about this topic plus the suggested temporary travel route (Musham Bank roundabout located) for 2025 meetings (Cock O’The North, Barry Sheene Classic, Steve Henshaw Gold Cup, Hill-climbs, British Supermoto), Oliver’s Mount Racing Director, Andy Hayes stated:
“It is a massive do for OM. Without a permanent fix for Jackson’s Lane, OM (Oliver’s Mount) has no long- term future, and without the temporary road coming in, it didn’t have a future in the short term either.
If we lose OM for just a couple of years, my fear is it won’t ever come back.”
