In dramatic style, thirteen times TT winner Peter Hickman consolidated pole position for tomorrow’s 55th Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix.
On top throughout Q2, Q1 victor Hickman towards the session’s end was overshadowed by BE/RK Racing’s Davey Todd, who threw the gauntlet down, lapping at 2:25.370 seconds.
FHO Racing’s Hickman would respond and some across his final qualifying lap, going sub 2:25 seconds, chalking up a pole setting lap time of 2:24.879 seconds.
Behind Hickman, Todd, third quickest from Q2 was reigning event Champion Erno Kostamo, lapping just below 2 minutes 26.5 seconds (2.24.481).
Third fastest within Q1, David Datzer was P4 this afternoon at Macau, marginally slower than Kostamo.
Fellow BMW speedsters, Michael Rutter and Phil Crowe captured the fifth, sixth best times.
Seventh-tenth rapidest pilots from an ultimately thrilling second qualifying session, were Brian McCormack, once again top non-BMW runner Rob Hodson, Lukas Maurer and Adelaide ace David Johnson.
Top Guia Circuit newcomer, finishing twelfth fastest was former Classic TT winner, multiple BSB Champion Josh Brookes.
