After countless social media spin, hints, paddock whispers, it’s official today, Glenn Irwin will represent Paul Bird Motorsport in the 2024 British Superbike Championship.
For road racing fans though, the big news is that he’s Northwest 200 bound again, as he targets more Superbike race triumphs.
Unbeaten in the SBK category since the thrilling feature race of 2017, his present big bike NW200 wins total stands at eight.
Just one behind, the all-time SBK wins record, jointly held by the legendary Joey Dunlop and Macau GP wins record-holder Michael Rutter, could history be beckoning in May?
Few would go against tipping the quickest TT newcomer in history, who by all accounts will be back astride Ducati machinery.
All but one of Irwin’s NW200 wins have arisen with Ducati tackle including last year’s SBK race conquests, when duking it out for victory spoils with Alastair Seeley, Dean Harrison, Michael Dunlop and Davey Todd.
