By Just past quarter to twelve local time, the second IRRC Imatranajo qualifying voyage opened with provisional pole-sitter from Friday, Niko Lehtiranta, swiftly onto the pace, lapping in the low 1:56 seconds’ bracket.
Lehtiranta’s standing start lap time of 1:56.066, kept him on course for pole for today’s middleweight class race (10 lap distance) until a dramatic upturn of speed from Imatra first-timer, Performance Racing Achterhoek’s Adam McLean.
McLean, victorious at the previous IRRC round at Schleizer Dreieck, nudged twice under 1:56 seconds, his best lap of 1:55.784 seconds, is an unofficial class lap record.
The Czech duo of Petr Najman (1.56.466), Marek Cerveny (1.56.676) would finish third, fourth quickest behind McLean, Lehtiranta with the fifth swiftest time banked by Team Schleizer Dreieck’s, growing in confidence Gary Johnson (1.57.266).
Sixth, seventh, eighth fastest across Supersport Q2 were Niko Tanskanen (1.57.266), Ilja Caljouw (1.57.972) and the final rider to lap sub 2 minutes, Romain Cleaz Savoyen (1.58.935).
Finalising the session top ten, ninth, tenth rapidest were Mauro Poncini (2.00.703) and Sebastian Frotscher (2.00.717).
Welsh IRRC ace Rhys Hardisty was a respectable thirteenth quickest whilst overall 29 racers set representative lap-times.
