IRRC Hengelo: McLean Pips Cerveny To Supersport R2 Spoils

Originally red-flagged, due to Jorn Hamberg’s high-side, Derek McGee tangling with Hamberg’s Yamaha, the second IRRC Hengelo – Supersport encounter re-started over five laps, enthralled, captivated roads scene fans trackside and those watching the live You Tube streamed coverage across Europe and worldwide.

Adam McLean grabbed the hole shot and quickly obtained a one second plus advantage. As lap one closed, McLean led Petr Najman by 1.16 seconds.

Working his through to second on lap two, Marek Cerveny (WRP Wepol Racing Parts Triumph) was gradually nibbling into McLean’s race lead.

By the time lap-four arose, he was just 0.263 behind the Tobermore rider.

If Performance Racing Achterhoek’s McLean (worth reminding a Varsselring newcomer), was feeling the pressure exerted by the Czech star, it didn’t show as he upped his gap out-front to 0.455 with one lap to go.

Five times IRRC Champion Cerveny, who claimed this morning a 34th IRRC race success, was still within striking distance of McLean throughout lap five.

Ultimately McLean just had the initiative at the chequered flag, leading Cerveny home by only 0.21 of a second.

Najman (Laserscanning Europe by PSB Motorsport Yamaha) procured third with twice TT winner Gary Johnson (Team Schleizer Dreieck Suzuki) fourth.

Behind ‘AKA Driver’, obtaining remaining top ten leader board placings were Ilja Caljouw, Kevin Mos, Mauro Poncini who impressed at the Northwest 200, Thomas Wendel, Sebastian Frotscher and Rico Vetter.
