2019 Newcomers A Manx Grand Prix winner Pierre Yves Bian, opened his 2021 IRRC tenure in the best possible fashion by taking pole position for tomorrow’s Supersport races at Circuit De Chimay.
Topping in commanding fashion opening qualifying, the Martimotos backer racer’s top Q1 time of 1 minute 42.380 seconds proved just enough to keep at bay second qualifying pace setters Petr Najman and Jorn Hamberg.
Q2 saw Najman, Performance Racing Achterhoek’s Hamberg register best lap times of (1.42.517), (1.42.585) to place them respectively 0.137, 0.205 shy of Yves Bian’s aforementioned personal best lap.
Overall fourth quickest was Ilja Caljouw (1.42.711), fifth fastest was Optimark Road Racing stalwart, Southern 100 podium finisher Xavier Denis (1.43.351).
Germany’s speediest Ulster GP exponent Christian Schmitz (1.43.485) finalised the six quickest qualifiers whilst positions 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th from timed competition were captured by the following:
Amalric Blanc (1.45.726), Cyril Lecocq (1.45.979), Romain Cleaz Savoyen (1.46.796), the UK’s sole representative, IRRC newcomer Mark Purslow (1.46.991).
Rounding the 15 paciest middleweight class exponents during the qualifying sessions were Anders Blacha (1.47.120), Yann Galli (1.48.003), Kevin Rigot (1.48.111), Jerome Bagard (1.48.500) and Jonathan Lesceux (1.48.758).
