IRRC Supersport:
In excess of thirty riders jostled it out for IRRC Supersport qualifying honours at Circuit De Chimay.
WRP Wepol Racing Parts backed Marek Cerveny speediest during first qualifying, looked to have the measure of prime Championship rival Jorn Hamberg before the Dutchman turned the tables in Q2.
Taking close to 1.5 seconds off his best lap time from Q1, Performance Racing Achterhoek’s Hamberg lapped at 1:42.039 seconds, to acquire pole position for tomorrow’s Supersport race stints.
Czech roads legend Cerveny was below 0.4 in arrears whilst Hamberg’s team-mate, third fastest Ilja Caljouw kept close proximity, lapping in the low 1:43 seconds’ bracket.
Wrapping up this afternoon’s ten most potent middleweight class pilots were Romain Cleaz Savoyen, Mauro Poncini, Thomas Wendel.
Team Schleizer Dreieck’s Sebastian Frotscher, Wes Kleinfeld, Anssi Koski and Elias Van Roekel.
Manxman Jamie Williams finished twelfth quickest whilst Never Be Clever Racing team-mates Rhys Hardisty, Forest Dunn respectively placed 18th, 23rd from the second timed qualifying session.
IRRC Superbike:
Lukas Maurer’s relentless charge towards the 2023 IRRC Superbike crown, continued in earnest today at Chimay.
Maurer astride his own teams trusty Kawasaki, got close to Vincent Lonbois long standing existing lap record during second qualifying, lapping at 1 minute 37.375 seconds.
This ultra proficient lap enabled the Swiss rider to finish 0.607 faster than IRRC jedi, Didier Grams.
Just over 0.5 behind Grams turn of speed was Macau Grand Prix, King of Imatra winner Erno Kostamo.
Patrick Hoff, Gabriel Pons followed Kostamo on the timing screens whilst sixth, seventh respectively were the Hoffmann by MRP duo of Markus Karlsson and Laurent Hoffmann.
Finalising the Superbike Q2 top ten were MTP Racing’s Johannes Schwimmbeck, Virgil Amber Bloemhard and four plate holder Nico Muller.
Brits wise, Rhys Hardisty quietly caught the attention of astute European roads course aficionados, finishing a respectable 14th quickest.
