Darryl Tweed all but clinched today, the 2025 IRRC Superbike title at Schleizer Dreieck, following problems for nearest title rival Laurent Hoffmann in the second twelve lap SBK contest.
Tweed (Never Be Clever Racing – Yamaha), twice Supersport Champion Hoffmann (Hoffmann by MRP – BMW) were-embroiled in a ding-dong tussle for sixth before Belgian ace Hoffmann hit issues late on.
This enabled Tweed who travels back now to IOM shores, for Lightweight Classic TT competition bursts, to finish sixth, second best full-time IRRC SBK exponent with the podium positions claimed by the same top three from opening race action, Julian Puffe, Freddie Heinrich, and Roger Bantli.
Going into the final rounds at Frohburg, Tweed twice today sixth, second in terms of full season IRRC entrants behind Johannes Schwimmbeck (KFZ-Schwimmbeck #44 – BMW), will hold a 48-point Championship lead over Hoffmann, meaning he only needs to score three points to become possibly the last ever IRRC SBK Champion.
Others to secure top eight, top six finishes at a fine weather induced Schleizer Dreieck were Martin Van Ruitenbeek (5th x2), Fedrik Matthys (8th – SBK Race 1), Stephane Bednarek (7th – SBK Race 2) and Marcel Elsner (8th – SBK Race 2).
